This means that the rest of the Cal linebackers are going to have to pick up the slack. Price had a good spring and Cal still has 4 highly touted linebackers coming in, in Cecil Whiteside, although academic issues may force a blueshirt, Nick Forbes, David Wilkerson and Chris McCain who will likely greyshirt. Also Jarred Price had a good spring and hopefully Mychal Kendricks can step up this year and be the player former Cal players Zach Follett and Eddie Young thought he would be. Obviously Mike Mohammed will still be the anchor but other guys will have to step up. The loss of Martin will likely only hurt depth this year for the Bears.
This will free up a scholarship and spot on the linebacking crew next year. Cal is currently a favorite for highly touted linebackers Jason Gibson and Todd Barr.
For this season, Cal will need to pull even more close together and show that they can overcome the loss of a very talented player. I would like to mention a quote from Major League, "Theres only one thing left to do then....Whats that?,,,,Win the whole fucking thing"
That is what Cal needs to do.
